Overview
This web address takes you to The New Zealand Curriculum Online site on TKI, where there is material related to the New Zealand Curriculum.
The digital stories section provides examples of ideas and approaches some schools are using to reshape their curriculum. Each example includes a brief movie clip and some background information.
Each story opens with a lively and engaging video clip. However, the accompanying background text provides a lot more information about what each school is trying to do. While the stories themselves are useful, the more important use is for schools to consider how these examples provide starters for their own work in considering how they will respond to the curriculum document, and what shifts and developments they need to consider in the context of their own school community.
Reflective questions
These reflective questions might guide you in your reading and viewing of the stories:
- How will you engage staff, students and your community in discussions around the implications of curriculum change in your school context?
- In discussion with your senior leadership team, how will you need to develop your vision, principles, and values so that your school can meet the challenges of curriculum change over the next decade?
- What other aspects of the New Zealand Curriculum will require you to make changes in leading teaching and learning in your school?
