Thur, 17 Mar 2008 10:00:00 GMT en-uk LeadSpace is being redeveloped and upgraded Thur, 7 Aug 2008 10:00:00 GMT LeadSpace is being redeveloped to align with the elements of the leadership model outlined in Kiwi Leadership for Principals (KLP). This redevelopment will happen in three phases. The first phase changes will be ready early in 2009. In this phase LeadSpace will get a whole new look, and its navigation and search features will improve. In the meantime the look of LeadSpace has been ‘freshened up’.

You can now navigate to: e-net, leadership, knowledge, tools and e-admin from the top of each page just under the new LeadSpace logo.

]]> Final Kiwi Leadership for Principals document released Thur, 31 Jul 2008 10:00:00 GMT The final Kiwi Leadership for Principals (KLP) document was released on 7 August. Two copies of the document have been sent to all schools. You can click through to sections of the document from the left-hand column on the LeadSpace homepage and also download a PDF copy.

Developed in collaboration with the school sector, and underpinned by research evidence contained in the 2008 Educational Leadership BES, KLP presents a model of leadership that reflects the qualities, knowledge and skills required to lead New Zealand schools from the present to the future.

KLP will be used as a reference point for developing the Professional Leadership Strategy. This strategy will provide a three to five year plan outlining how the Government intends to work with the sector to achieve the goal of strong professional leadership in every New Zealand school by 2012.

]]> Creating culturally-safe schools for Māori students Thur, 10 July 2008 09:00:00 GMT This article presents findings from its authors – Angus Macfarlane, Ted Glynn, Tom Cavanagh, and Sonja Bateman – about ways to create culturally safe classrooms in New Zealand schools. In particular, it focuses on ways in which teachers and schools can create inclusive environments for Māori students. The authors remind us that all students benefit from being in culturally inclusive classrooms.
